UPK Workgroup Report and Resources
Dear Executive Directors, Program Directors, and Education Partners,
The final meeting of the Universal PreKindergarten (UPK) Quality and Access Workgroup (Workgroup) took place on Monday, April 22, 2024.
The California Department of Education (CDE) was required, in consultation with the California Department of Social Services and the State Board of Education, to report to the appropriate fiscal and policy committees of the Legislature and the Department of Finance with recommendations for preschool quality standards, recommendations for preschool access, and recommendations at the intersection of both quality and access, as well as other considerations.
The CDE has submitted the report to the appropriate committees and invites you all to view the below linked resources including the graphically designed Final Report, the Final Report Brief, a document containing a compilation of Best Practice Recommendations and Technical Assistance Resources, the recording of the final celebratory meeting, and the California Educators Together website in which you can find all documents related to the UPK Workgroup.
